Highlands

The Highlands District is one of several municipalities and electoral areas which comprise the area often referred to as the "Western Communities" of Greater Victoria. Highlands has a total area of ± 40 square kilometers which includes industrial, rural residential and comprehensive development zones. A large percentage of the area includes park zoning with regional parks including Mount Work, Gowlland Tod Provincial Park, and Thetis Lake. In the center of the district there are numerous Greenbelt zones which are used to retain large undeveloped areas. To the north, the district is almost solely zoned as parkland with some rural residential areas in between. The Highlands are split into two neighbourhoods: Eastern Highlands and Western Highlands.
